Hello there! You may have noticed a long string of interviews the past several Mondays. I put out the call on Twitter a while ago asking to talk with folks from the TTRPG scene, with a priority on folks from other parts of the world. I really want to talk to folks in the RPGSEA and LATAM spaces, a) because they are fascinating people making amazing games, and b) they often get overlooked in the hullabaloo of North American gaming.
The response was huge! I was flooded with interview offers, enough to carry me well into September. So expect to see interviews with TTRPG creators every Monday for a while. I’m excited to share their work and their thoughts on the community and industry of tabletop games. In the meantime, this is a great opportunity to go back through my interviews over the last month and catch up, if you haven’t already.
And I want to keep the fun rolling! If you are a marginalized creator in the TTRPG space and maybe have a project coming up that you want to talk about, or just want to talk to me about games in general, please reach out to me. Because Twitter is dying I’m going to strongly suggest you email me at brent.jans@gmail.com to get my attention, with “TheRatHole.ca Interview” in the subject line. Tell me a bit about yourself in the email, link me to anything cool you think I should see, and if you have a press kit or promotional material for your project (if there is one), a link or attachment would be appreciated. I’ll get back to you within two days to talk about a timeline for our interview and start the ball rolling.
Please don’t self-select out. If you read that and thought, “He can’t mean me”, I can and I do. If you are a creator in the TTRPG space I want to hear from you, especially if you aren’t in North America. Being in NA doesn’t disqualify you, of course, but my priority is to lift the voices of folks we maybe haven’t heard before, or very often.
Of course, also come back here every week* and check out the interviews. Learning from other creators is one way to enhance your own work. Or if you aren’t a creator (yet), gain important insights into our hobby and industry. And maybe you’ll get turned on to a new game, which is always cool. [*Editor’s Note: TheRatHole.ca will be on our yearly GenCon hiatus in early August. But we will be back in a few weeks, with more interviews and reviews, as well as videos on our YouTube Channel and more live-play on our new Twitch channel.]
Hope to hear from you soon!
