Ok, it would be irresponsible of me not to start by pointing out the obvious, here. This game, and by extension this CrowFUNding Spotlight, is for mature players. The game consists of in and out-of-game sexual content and/or the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Follow all applicable local legal recommendations.
With that out of the way, let’s have some fun, shall we? Well, no. Let’s talk about a Kickstarter Campaign that you can support that will encourage fun with your partner(s). Lewd Dungeon is billed as “An Adult Role-Playing Game For Couples” although it points out that there is no reason to restrict yourself to only two people if you don’t want to. The FAQs for the project also point out that while the sexual components were written from a heteronormal standpoint, there isn’t anything that can’t be done by same-sex couples and the illustrations are inclusive of such pairings.
Another important thing to mention right at the start is consent. It’s not mentioned in the campaign itself, but the Lewd Dungeon Core Rulebook is very clear about the importance of consent and clear communication before, during, and after the game and the book includes a variety of safety tools that couples/groups can use to make sure that everyone involved feels safe. Safety tools are, rightly, becoming the norm in TTRPGs in general, but there are games out there that push much further in their content and obstinately refuse to consider such basic levels of respect. Despite this positive momentum, aftercare is often left as an afterthought at best, so seeing it included is a happy thing. Lewd Dungeon doesn’t have to include sex, of course, there are also drinking and non-drinking rules, including recommended drinks throughout the book so anyone can play at a level they are comfortable with.
That’s all stuff that is part of the Core Rules of Lewd Dungeon Adventures, but we are here to look at the 12 Days of XXXmas campaign, aren’t we? The book includes 12 interconnected adventures, creatures, Christmas themed items, maps, scenarios, and more. The campaign funded as I wrote this and by the time you read it they will have certainly unlocked an included set of STL files to 3D print five of the coolest holiday monsters from the set, and likely the physical add-on version of them. There is a version adapted to 5E rules, and pledges include Print & Play recipes for the drinks in the game. There’s a ton of potential here. A higher tier pledge mentions “1 Set of Miniatures of Your Choice from the Unlocked Stretch Goals” which mean that there will hopefully be even more minis, and I personally hope to see a physical set of the recipe cards, or even a code to print them through DriveThruCards.
Pledge levels start at $25 (USD) for digital package including the game, printable maps, and printable recipe cards. That’s all the 5E edition includes, but the Lewd Dungeon Adventures edition also includes PDFs of the character sheets and the Lewd Core Rulebook. $55 puts you all in, added every Lewd Dungeon Adventures using the original or 5E ruleset. To get the Hardcover edition of the book, it will run you $65, which includes the $25 digital package. For $100 there’s a Kickstarter exclusive Box Set with all of that stuff printed, plus more cards, custom dice, and 45+ cardboard standees (which gives us an idea of how many more Miniature sets might be coming down the road). There’s also a $1000 level that I’m not even going to detail here.
I love a good Xmas adventure, and a XXXmas adventure sounds even better to me. So put away that passive aggressive mistletoe and roll for Seduction with the 12 Days of XXXmas!
