Back in the Fall I had the pleasure of coming across the wondrous world of Sordane, and more importantly Arcane Mini’s upcoming (at the time) 4X game, Aldarra. I came home with a handful of ship miniatures, and as the Kickstarter campaign launched in February we featured them in a four-episode series on our weekly painting show, Slinging Paint.
The game launched and was doing well, but there were concerns from the crowdfunding public over the cost and some of the options. So, as only the best companies do, Arcane Minis cancelled the project and took it back to the drawing board. This relaunched campaign comes in with a drastically lower price tag for the base game, and significantly more options to customize your pledge up and down. This includes STL 3D print files to reduce shipping costs.
Pledge levels start at a minuscule $25 (USD) for the Base Game and Savage Skies expansion STL files only. If all you want is the miniatures, this is what you want. If you want to play the game, you’ll want to add-on a physical copy of the game that specifically comes without minis. I was a bit surprised that there is no Print-and-Play option for the main game components, but this is a rather large game for an arts-and-crafts project. The base game with miniatures is $135 and the All-In pledge with all the upgrades is $235.
I’m super excited to see this game come to fruition and review it in more detail for you next summer. But for now you can back Aldarra on Kickstarter until April 27, 2022.
