For most people, The timeframe from just prior to Christmas and just after New Years is pretty chill. (Weather pun only slightly intended.) For me, personally, it’s one of the busiest times of the year both personally and professionally. So it’s not surprising that even knowing it was coming, I’d almost miss one of the most important Kickstarters to cross my desk in years. Let’s go back to Fall of 2018. My good friend Jaymz joined our team here at TheRatHole.ca with his show, Slinging Paint. Just a few months later he would start a tradition within a tradition. He painted his first episodes on War in Christmas Village, as part of our yearly Holiday Review series.
Since then he’s painted every set, minus the Gingerbread Gang (who arrived too late for this year’s series, so he put out a one-off episode on the Mimicry Presents) plus I did a video review on the public-beta rules for the game that evolved from the miniatures. It is my hope that will continue to feature War in Christmas Village for years to come. These minis aren’t just a favourite of myself and Jaymz, but also of many of our followers. So the fact that as I write this Spotlight the project has been funded is extremely exciting.
This is a straightforward campaign. No stretch goals, no risk of shipping delays, just content in the form of 3D printing files.
For only $50 (USD) you’ll get personal access to STL files for45 new and unreleased minis of if you are generous $75 will help Jackalope Enterprises set up a monthly Patreon for even more goodies. $125 gives a lifetime commercial licence to print and distribute the models indefinitely.
This is an exciting step forward for the War in Christmas Village product line. Instead of focusing on trying to run Kickstarters to fabricate and distribute products, they can focus on new sculpts and improving the rules and scenarios for the actual game. But no matter what game you play, these will add so many options for your stories.
