Let me make this ABUNDANTLY clear: I LOVE Kaiju. I love Godzilla, I love Gamera, I love Kong. I have a hand-pulled screen print called “New York Giants” that includes all the Kaiju that had attacked NYC until that point, including Staypuft, Cloverfield, Q, ‘Zilla, and more.
I enjoy Mecha, but not to the same extent. The MegaZord battles are the best part of Power Rangers. I come from the generation of original Voltron and Robotech cartoons, not to mention OG Transformers (I was never a big Go-Bots fan though.) The original Pacific Rim was an incredible acheivement and the world it created was deep and detailed as only Del Toro could envision.
To have either one of Pacific Rim or the Monsterverse come to the TTRPG table would be incredible. To have BOTH is mind-blowingly exciting.
Each of these worlds is receiving a full-on cinematic Adventure Path, taking the characters from levels 1 through 10 in a planned 160 pages along with a separate Bestiary or Codex, full of new and old NPCs and adversaries. This is exciting.
Pledges are mostly an either/or thing starting at $25 (USD) for a digital edition, $40 for a digital and physical edition, or $100 for a collector set. $50, $80, and $180 gets you the same pledges for both properties.
You will need some version of the Everyday Heroes core rulebook to play the adventures, which is available as an add-on to your pledge at a discounted $10 digital or $48 physical. Built on a d20 Modern framework and refreshed for the 5E era it’s a straightforward ruleset to pick up.
I had the chance to chat with Evil Genius Games’ owner, Dave Scott, recently and the most exciting part of these projects for me is that they are able to be crossed over. Which is exactly what’s going to happen and we all know it.
You can back the Legendary Bundle on Kickstarter until June 5, 2023.
